| Vice-Dade Transit is the primary public transport authority serving the greater Vice-Dade County area. It is the largest transit system in Florida and the 15th largest transit system in the United States. VDT operates the Metrobus with bus routes created specifically to access frequented areas and priority buildings such as schools, hospitals and the Downtown district. The Public Works Department provides building and maintenance work to the Vice-Dade area. It provides all traffic signals countywide, along with all traffic control signs, street signage and pavement markings and all County and State-owned street lights. It also builds, operates and maintains movable and fixed bridges, swales, roadway surface repairs and guardrails. For-Hire services such as chauffering, limousine services, passenger motor carriers and taxicabs are required to apply for a permit from the County Commissioners and will be regulated by the Department of Transportation. Permits for all work within rights-of-way and code enforcement of unpermitted work is also handled by our Public Works division. |
